How much should I tip at a restaurant?

15% for adequate service, 18-20% for good service, 20-25% for excellent service. Some people tip on the pre-tax amount, others on the total.

Should I tip on tax?

Technically, you only need to tip on the pre-tax amount. However, tipping on the full amount is simpler and more generous.

When should I tip more than 20%?

For exceptional service, complex orders, large groups, or when dining during holidays. Also consider tipping more for delivery in bad weather.

How do I tip for other services?

Hair stylists: 15-20%. Food delivery: 15-20% or $3-5 minimum. Hotel housekeeping: $2-5 per night. Bartenders: $1-2 per drink or 15-20% of tab.
