How We Calculate This

Food calories from USDA/manufacturer data. Exercise: cal/min = (MET × 3.5 × weight_kg) / 200. Distance = (time_hours × speed). Walking 5 km/h (MET 3.5), Running 10 km/h (MET 9.8).

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these calorie counts accurate?

These are typical values for standard serving sizes. Actual calories vary by brand, recipe, and portion size. Check nutrition labels for exact values.

How is exercise time calculated?

We use MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values multiplied by your body weight. Higher MET activities burn calories faster, so running takes less time than walking.

Why include walking and running distances?

Distances help visualize the effort needed. Walking 5 km burns roughly the same calories whether you do it in 60 or 75 minutes, due to the work-energy principle.

Should I exercise to burn off every treat?

This calculator is for perspective, not guilt. Occasional treats are fine in a balanced diet. Focus on overall patterns rather than perfectly balancing each food.
