How We Calculate This

Uses the standard 4.0 GPA scale with +/- modifiers (A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, etc.). GPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credits) ÷ Σ(Credits).

Frequently Asked Questions

How is GPA calculated?

GPA = Total Grade Points ÷ Total Credits. Each course's grade points = Grade Value × Credits. Then divide the sum by total credits.

What is a good GPA?

3.0+ is generally considered good. 3.5+ is very good (Dean's List at many schools). 3.7+ is excellent. Requirements vary by program and school.

Do all schools use the same GPA scale?

Most US schools use the 4.0 scale, but some differences exist. Some give A+ a 4.3, others cap at 4.0. Some don't use +/- grades. Check your school's policy.
