How We Calculate This

Road frame = inseam × 0.67. Mountain frame = inseam × 0.66 - 1. Hybrid frame = inseam × 0.685. Saddle height = inseam × 0.883. These are starting points; professional fitting is recommended for serious cyclists.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my inseam?

Stand barefoot with your back against a wall. Place a book between your legs like a bike saddle, spine up. Measure from the floor to the top of the book. This is your cycling inseam.

What's the difference between road and mountain bike sizing?

Road bikes are measured in centimeters (center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube). Mountain bikes often use inches or S/M/L sizing. Mountain frames are generally smaller for the same rider due to longer travel and different geometry.

Should I size up or down if between sizes?

It depends on your riding style. Size down for more aggressive, sporty riding. Size up for comfort and upright position. Stems and seatposts can also fine-tune fit.

What is standover clearance?

The space between the top tube and your crotch when straddling the bike. You want at least 2-5cm clearance for safety when stopping. More clearance is better for mountain biking.

How do I set my saddle height?

A common method: saddle height = inseam × 0.883. With your heel on the pedal at the lowest point, your leg should be straight. With the ball of your foot on the pedal, there should be a slight bend.
